In today’s fast moving world, oils seem to have taken a back seat amongst leisure painters. Because they take a long time to dry, and solvents usually have a strong smell, many people are turning to acrylics as an alternative. However, things can be done with oils, that cannot quite be achieved with acrylics, such as working back into the paint at the sticky stage, or glazing to achieve an overall glow. We will explore all these techniques and will try and complete more than one painting during the week. It is hoped that we will be working outside, as well as in the studio. We will also be using an odour free solvent.
